Here is some information about the exhibitions I have had over the past few years:

Art Trek

19–28 June 2009
Marwood Gardens, North Devon

Art trek

This was an exhibition I had as part of Art Trek in North Devon this year. It involved fifty other artists across the county showcasing their work to the public. For this exhibition I showcased my drawings from America where I completed one every six hours for two months.

Myself and another artist, Creydi Nevill, worked together in showing our abstract drawings and paintings in the gardens both under a Marquee and on along a footpath. There were in the region of sixty to eighty people who came to the exhibition and commented on how exciting it was to see artwork in the gardens of Marwood. In the week we also had drawing workshops and invited the public to join in and have a go at sketching the gardens. It was a successful event that encouraged people from all ages to pick up a pencil and get drawing!

I would like to thanks Patricia Stout and Stella Levy for helping coordinate this event with my artist Creydi Nevill in June.

Contemporary art for Christmas 2008

2 December 2008–9 January 2009
The Lloyd Gill Gallery, Western-Super-Mare

Contemporary art for Christmas

I was invited by the gallery owner, Lloyd Gill, to present three paintings from my light decay series in this exhibition. The show collaborated with seven other artists who each used two-dimensional media to express their ideas. I found the private view a lovely evening and very much enjoyed Mr Gill’s company over the course of the show.

From this exhibition I have been asked to show case some of my work in the Art Magazine ‘Proof’. They want to publish a double page spread of some images of my work and include a formal interview discussing my practise. This is an exciting offer and I see it as an important step in getting my work and name known. It will be included in the April 09 edition.

West Buckland School 150th celebration exhibition

11–29 September 2008
West Buckland Art Department, Devon

West Buckland School 150th celebration

West Buckland School was the place I first started of my artistic life. A well known and respected Head of Art Teacher, Nigel Minard, organised a successful and exciting show that brought together past art students and presented there work as a part of the School’s 150th Anniversary. This show gained much recognition and was visited by HRH The Princess Anne.

17–28 May 2008
Greestone Gallery of Lincoln University, Lincoln

I remember

the preparation,
the studying,
the mapping.

the drawing,
the walking,
the thinking.

the cold,
the wet,
the rain.

the departure,
the journey,
the end.

I remember the outdoors.

This is my Final Year Show I had at Lincoln University. We published a catalogue and sold it on the Private View Evening. I found preparing the show to be stressful and tiring but in the end it was a fantastic event that came to life when everything was complete. The poem above is an extract from the catalogue.

The Viking Way installation

18 April 2008
The Usher Gallery, Lincoln

Viking Way

Over the course of my third year I walked 150miles across Lincolnshire, drawing the landscape as I went along. From this experience, I wanted to present what I had found out and also encouraged artists to draw outside. This ‘one day show’ had sketchbooks, paintings, tents, hiking equipment, visual presentations and sound projections that were all used to encapsulate this experience of travelling with yourself across the landscape.

Remains

19–28 April 2007
Greestone Gallery of Lincoln University

Remains

This show was themed on the remains of objects, possessions and bodies. The artists I collaborated with were Fiona Akhurst, Cassie Beatty, Valerie Beck, Corrina Brunt, Neil Brown, Samantha Care, Ben Chandler and Lecelle Dalby. This was part of a second year projected that studied the ways of communicating with other artists in organising a joint exhibition.

The Jolly Brewer Gallery

28 January–11 February 2007
The Jolly Brewer, Lincoln

Jolly Brewer

This was a two week show at a local pub in Lincoln, close to the University of Lincoln Fine Art Studios.

Open plan

7 December 2006–25 January 2007
Greestone Gallery of Lincoln University
Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, USA

Open plan

This was a collaborative exhibition that was held in both Lincoln and American. It involved sending students artwork from Lincoln to the States to have a one month exhibition. When it had finished the artwork was then sent back and with it was students’ artwork from Tyler School of Art where Lincoln University had a show in the Greestone Gallery.

November

1–30 November 2007
Greestone Gallery of Lincoln University

Two Artists in my year collaborated together to bring second year and tutors artwork that concentrated on what they had been producing in the past month. The work in the exhibition ranged from video to painting to sculpture: I included three ink paintings that were soon to be part of my light decay series.

Beside the Wave exhibition

2–3 September 2006
St. John Community Centre, Barnstaple, Devon

7 hours poster

This exhibition was a collaboration with two others artists, Peter Kettle and Chris Hatton. The work was displayed in St. John Community Centre, Barnstaple for a weekend. For the exhibition I painted parts of North Devon, mostly concentrating on coastal places, either rural or urban.

The private view was a successful evening, with many friends and family coming along. The weekend was very beneficial for experiencing the procedure of holding an exhibition and producing the work in a professional manner.

7 Hours exhibition

3–4 September 2005
Swimbridge village hall, Devon

7 hours poster

After my trip to Thailand, my work from the trip was displayed at a small exhibition titled 7 hours in conjunction with fellow artist, Hester Berry. Its title represented the time difference between Devon and Thailand. It was a successful weekend and the work was highly praised.
