About the work
Over the past seven months I have been producing a number of drawings and paintings that deal with line, surface and texture. I have wanted to focus my studies on the representation of nature, especially in the Lincolnshire Wolds.
I walked and sketched across this area of natural beauty in October 2007 to record and observe the landscape. My sketchbook was used as a way of referencing- much like and explorer or walker would – to try and capture moments in time on my walk so that I could use it in my studio.
I was then able to create a number of large scale mono-chrome pieces which deal with lines, marks, memory and gesture.
